About Body Type Calculator

Body Type Calculator is a free, independent website with one purpose: to give you a clear, explained estimate of your body shape from three measurements.

What the site offers

The main tool is a body type calculator that classifies bust, waist and hip measurements into one of five broad shapes. Alongside it are guides to each body shape, a measuring guide and a FAQ.

How the calculator works

The calculator uses a short list of published, fixed rules. The thresholds for comparing bust with hips and measuring how defined the waist is are adapted from the Female Figure Identification Technique (FFIT), a method described in apparel research. The apple rule is a simplification we added. Every rule is shown on the homepage and the body type pages, so you can check any result by hand.

The calculation happens entirely in your browser. There is no account, no server-side processing of your measurements, and no measurement history.

Our content principles

  • Transparent methods. We explain how each result is reached and where the thresholds come from.
  • Honest limitations. Body shape categories are simplifications. We say when results are borderline and when other methods may disagree.
  • Neutral language. No body shape is ranked above another, and we avoid advice framed around “fixing” a body.
  • No health claims. The calculator is for general information and clothing fit, not medical assessment. See our disclaimer.
  • Privacy by design. No tracking, analytics or advertising scripts are used. See the privacy policy.

What we are not
